The driver of this crane suffered a few cuts and scrapes when the crane toppled Wednesday morning while attempting to remove one of the light poles from Ram Stadium. The replacement of the lights is being handled by Liteco Electric, Inc. of Waller, Texas. Wednesday was the first day work began on the replacement of the lights and poles. According to Bobby Fernandez, assistant superintendent of operations and facilities, the supports on the crane released causing the vehicle, which was positioned on an incline, to begin listing. The added weight of the pole increased the tilt and sent the crane, pole and light rigging crashing down. The driver was able to jump out of the crane’s cab to safety before it crashed.
