| 09/24/02: Panama City Beach, Florida — Crane accident in Panama City Beach | Dead Link | | Cache Copy | A large crane tipped over around 1:30 p.m. at the Boardwalk Beach Resort. The crane operator reportedly misjudged a turn, and the crane went over onto its side. Officials credit a seat belt for keeping the crane operator from getting hurt. |
A crane collapsed on a construction worker at Portland's Providence hospital as it was being erected. The victim died later in the morning. The crane operator was unhurt. Investigators say the two–person crew was setting up the crane to work on an elevator on the back side of the main hospital. TV link to story and photo. | 09/20/02: Mexico City, Mexico — On September 17, 2002 a 330ton Demag crane that was disassembling a tower crane in Mexico City, tilted to the side. There is no official version of what caused the accident Seems the outriggers were not fully extended, also seems the ground might have failed.
